한국자유총연맹(이하 연맹)은 26일자 보도자료에서 “10월 24일부터 25일까지 충북 충주에 위치한 THE조선호텔수안보에서 ‘지역사회리더 실천 결의대회’를 진행했다”고 밝혔다.
한국자유총연맹측은 “이번 결의대회에는 전국 지역사회리더 233명이 참여해 새로운 환경에서의 지역사회리더 역할, 자유의 가치확산과 사회통합 등의 토의와 함께 지역 우수 사례 상호 교류를 통해 앞으로의 효과적인 지역 활성화 방안을 모색했다”고 전했다.
연맹 신동혁 사무총장은 대회사에서 “이번 지역사회리더 결의대회는 반목과 갈등을 치유하고 소외계층을 보듬는 사회통합 실현 방안에 대해 다 같이 고민하는 좋은 기회”라며, “앞으로 지역사회리더 결의대회를 통해 다각도로 고민한 여러 방안을 각자의 자리에서 성실히 실천하여 대한민국의 발전과 사회통합에 기여할 수 있는 리더가 되어주길 바란다”라고 당부했다.
한자리에 모인 지역사회리더들은 “코로나 팬데믹, 세계 경제 불황 등 각종 위기로 인한 다양한 사회적 갈등으로 우리 사회의 결속력이 크게 위협받고 있다”라고 현 상황을 인식해, 다시 도약하는 대한민국, 함께 잘 사는 국민의 나라를 만들자는 국민통합 실천 결의문을 채택했다.
1954년에 출범한 한국자유총연맹은 지난 68년간 자유민주주의 수호·발전 및 자유민주적 기본질서에 입각한 평화통일을 추구하기 위한 다양한 활동을 전개해 왔다. 연맹은 지난 2002년 UN 경제사회이사회의 특별협의 지위를 부여받은 국내 최대 규모의 국민정신운동단체이다.
