브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 당권주자로 꼽히는 김기현 의원이 4일 더불어민주당의 이태원 참사 국정조사 요구에 대해 "이태원 사고를 이재명 대표의 방탄용으로 악용하려는 시도를 중단하라"고 비판했다.
김기현 의원은 이날 자신의 SNS를 통해 "민주당은 진실 규명에 장애요인으로 여겨지는 악법인 '검수완박법'(검찰수사권 완전 박탈)을 폐기하는 것부터 협조하라"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "이태원 사고 당시 경찰의 부실, 늑장 대응이 드러나면서 경찰 지도부는 국민적 분노를 면할 길이 없어 보인다"며 "이런 참담한 일이 반복되지 않도록 엄정하고 철저한 수사를 통해 원인과 책임을 규명하고 재발 방지책을 마련해야 하지만 현실은 그렇지 못하다"고 말했다.
그는 "문재인 정권은 검찰 개혁을 명분으로 대선 패배 이후인 올해 4월 위장 탈당, 날치기 처리, 회기 쪼개기, 본회의 일정 변경, 국무회의 일정 변경 등 신묘망측한 꼼수를 총동원해 검수완박법을 강행했다"며 "그 결과 대형참사가 발생해도 검찰은 수사를 못하게 돼 버렸다"고 비판했다.
이어 그는 "황당하기 짝이 없는 짓을 민주당이 저질러 놓은 것이다. 이로 인해 이태원 사고에 대해 경찰이 '셀프수사'를 해야 하는 상황이 전개되고 있다"면서 "민주당이 켜켜이 쌓아온 적폐에 대한 철저한 수사를 하지 못하게 사악한 목적으로 처리했던 '검수완박법' 때문에 대형참사·민생범죄에 대한 수사를 제대로 못하게 된다는 우리 당의 지적이 사실로 드러나고 있다"고 주장했다.
김 의원은 "자신들의 잘못엔 눈감고 남 탓만 하는 민주당의 이중성이야말로 반드시 청산해야 할 제1호 적폐"라고 거듭 비판했다.
그러면서 "국민의힘은 '검수완박법'의 통과 절차와 내용에 문제가 있다면 헌법재판소에 권한쟁의심판을 청구해 놓은 상황이다. 헌재는 위헌 소지가 크다고 지적된 '검수완박법'에 대한 결론을 조속히 내려야 한다"고 촉구했다.
