장제원 의원은 지난 7일 국회에서 열린 행정안전위원회 이태원 참사 현안 질의에서 윤희근 경찰청장을 상대로 한 질의에서 "참사 현장의 지휘하는 관할서장의 책임을 밝히는 게 첫 번째 순서라고 본다. 그런데 관할서장인 이임재 서장의 행적은 미스터리 수준"이라고 지적했다.
