[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 주한영국대사관과 한국 주재 영국기업의 관계자들이 창원의 수소인프라와 연계한 구체적인 수소비즈니스 추진을 위해 8일 창원을 방문해 주요 수소인프라 견학과 업무 협의를 시행했다고 밝혔다.
현재 창원에는 수소생산기지 및 액화수소플랜트 등 각종 수소생산 사업 추진, 수소에너지 순환시스템 실증단지에서 국내 수소기업이 개발한 신규 설비의 운영 실증 지원, 한국자동차연구원 수소모빌리티연구본부 건립 등 다양한 수소사업이 활발히 추진되고 있으며, 영국기업이 가지고 있는 선전기술과 경험을 창원의 수소사업에 접목하는 방안을 마련하고자 주한영국대사관과 영국기업 관계자들이 창원을 방문했다.

이후 창원시청에서 열린 수소비즈니스 교류 간담회에서는 창원시 양희창 방산·원자력특보가 참석한 가운데 창원의 주요 수소 생산사업에 영국 기업들이 보유하고 있는 CCUS(탄소 포집·재처리·저장) 기술을 적용하는 방안과 영국 정부가 추진 중인 원자력발전 활용 수소생산 프로젝트에 창원의 원전·수소 기업들이 참여하는 방안 등을 협의했다.
임채진 전략산업과장은 “지난 8월 주한영국대사관에서 열렸던 수소정책 간담회를 통해 창원과 영국의 수소기업 간 상견례 이후, 보다 구체적이고 진지한 상호 교류를 위해 영국 정부에서는 토니 클렘슨 상무참사관이 한국 주재 영국기업 관계자를 인솔해, 창원을 방문, 창원의 수소산업 역량을 직접 확인했다”고 말하고 “이번 영국 관계자의 창원 방문은 단순한 현장 견학이 아닌 실질적인 수소비즈니스 교류방안을 마련하기 위해 진행된 만큼 창원과 영국의 수소기업이 상호 윈윈하면서 창원의 수소산업이 세계적으로 도약할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
