[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원시 의창구청이 시민을 위한 새청사 시대를 활짝 열었다.
창원특례시는 15일 의창구 원이대로 80 도계동 신청사 야외마당에서 의창구 개청식을 개최하고 새로운 도약을 다짐했다.
이날 개청식에는 홍남표 창원특례시장, 김영선 국회의원, 시·도의원을 비롯한 지역주민 300여 명이 참석했다.
행사는 창원한마음병원 오케스트라의 축하공연을 시작으로, 경과보고, 기념사 및 축사, 현판 제막 및 청사 투어 순으로 진행됐다.

2010년 통합 창원시 출범에 따라 설치된 의창구는 명곡동 행정복지센터와 청사를 함께 이용하다 나날이 늘어나는 인구와 다양해지는 행정수요에 적극 대응하기 위하여 2020년 4월 총 348억원의 사업비를 투입해 신청사 건립공사를 시작, 지난 9월 준공했다.
신청사는 지하 2층 지상 4층의 연면적 1만 3,315㎡의 규모로 지난달 24일부터 업무를 시작했다.
그간 좁은 공간에 본관과 별관으로 나눠 운영되고 있던 구청의 전 부서가 함께하며 방문하는 민원인에게 원스톱 행정서비스를 제공하게 되어 구민들의 호평을 받고 있다.
