[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도의회는 이춘덕 의원이 대표 발의한 '경남 법학전문대학원 설립 대정부 건의안'을 17일 채택했다고 밝혔다.
이번 건의안은 2023학년도부터 지방 법학전문대학원 총 모집인원의 5~15% 규모를 지역인재로 의무 선발토록 확정하였으나, 경남에는 법학전문대학원이 없어 경남 출신 학생들은 혜택은 고사하고 오히려 불이익을 받게 되는 것이다.
2009년부터 전국 25개 대학이 법학전문대학원으로 지정되었지만, 경남은 한 곳도 지정되지 못했다.
이로 인해 경남의 중.고등학교를 졸업해도 법학전문대학원이 없기 때문에 경남지역 청년들은 타 지역으로 유학을 떠나야 하는 실정이고, 경상남도·자치경찰위원회·경상남도교육청 및 시.군 등 법조 인력 채용으로 전문적인 사무 처리가 필요한 공공기관도 인력 충원에 고충을 겪고 있다.
이춘덕 의원은 “경남은 인구, 지역내총생산(GRDP) 규모가 전국 네 번째이며, 산업경제 규모 증가와 다양화로 법률서비스 수요도 점차 늘어나고 있는 실정이다.”고 밝히며, “법학전문대학원 부재는 경남지역의 법률서비스 약화는 물론 지역발전의 지속성과 국가 균형발전 측면에서도 바람직하기 않다.”고 주장했다.
이어“경남에 법학전문대학원이 설립된다면, 도내 우수한 인재 유치와 함께 경남 법학전문대학원 출신 변호사가 기업·산업체·교육기관·공공기관 등에서 지역인재로 정착해 지역발전에 크게 기여할 것이다.”고 말했다.
