18일 울진군에 따르면 군은 민선8기 역점시책인‘원자력수소 국가산업단지’조성을 위해 지난 21일 국토부에 제안서를 제출, 12월 말 후보지 선정을 앞두고 있다.
울진군은 관련기업과 협력체계 구축 및 입주수요를 확보하는 등 국가산업단지 후보지 선정을 위한 당위성을 확고히 하여 국가산업단지 유치를 성공 시킨다는 계획이다.
한편, 울진군은 원자력수소 생산 및 발전을 위한 다양한 이점을 지니고 있다.
먼저 신한울 3·4호기 포함 10기의 원전을 보유하게 되는 국내 최대 원전 집적지로 비송전 전력을 이용한 수소 대량 생산이 가능하고, 향후 원자력의 공정열을 활용하여 효율적으로 수소를 생산할 수도 있다.
또한, 한국수력원자력과의 수소 융복합 사업 등 지역 산업과의 연계 및 협력이 용이할 뿐만 아니라 ‘동해·삼척 액화수소 클러스터’, ‘포항 수소연료전지 발전 클러스터’,‘울산 수소그린모빌리티 클러스터’등을 연결하는 청정수소 공급의 최적지이다.
울진군은 원자력 수소국가산단 유치를 위해 전담부서를 구성, 운영해 전문성을 갖추고, 국가산단 추진단을 발족하는 한편 적극적이고 선제적인 행보를 통해 원자력을 활용한 청정수소생산 기술 개발 및 수소생산단지 조성 사업 관련 20개의 기업과 MOU를 체결하고, 입주의향 기업 82개를 확보하는 등 국가산업단지 유치를 위한 기반 마련을 철저히 했다.
또한 입주 기업의 활동 편의성을 위해 전기요금 지원 등 실효성 있는 기업지원 정책을 마련하고 이를 위한 재원확보 및 운영계획을 수립 중에 있다.
아울러 국가산단부지로 활용 할 계획인 죽변변 후정리 일원은 공적 규제 및 환경적인 문제요인이 없어 토지확보 및 개발 용이성 높아 좋은 평가를 받을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
