하마니는 ‘함안’이라는 지역명을 함안이 → 하마니 → 하마로 변형해하마를 베이스로 한 캐릭터가 탄생했다.
최근 트렌드인 직관적 네이밍이 돋보인다.
함안군 캐릭터라는 점을 확실히 부각하기 위해 가슴과 얼굴에는 아라가야 불꽃 무늬가 있으며 환경을 깨끗하게 정화하는 아라홍련 요술봉을 들고 다니는 것으로 캐릭터를 설정했다.
특히 하마니는 제작비용 절감과 함안에 대한 이해도를 반영하기 위해 담당공무원이 적극 피드백에 참여해 완성도를 높였다.
