경찰병원 분원 건립은 국가 균형 공공의료서비스 제공 및 경찰관 의료지원 확대를 위해 경찰청에서 추진 중인 사업으로 지난 1차 평가에서 요구조건 확인 및 부지평가위원회 평가를 거쳐 후보지 3곳이 선정됐다.
이날 현장 실사에 나선 부지평가위원회 심사위원들은 진해구 자은동 459 일원을 찾아 주변 의료 수요, 인구 밀집도, 교통망 등 계발 계획 및 부지 여건 및 관계기관 협업 사항 등을 상세히 검토했다.
특히 창원시 진해구 자은동 후보지의 경우 인근에 경남지방경찰청과 5개 경찰서·해양경찰서 4개 소방서 등이 소재해 있고 비수도권 경찰관 수도 1위 부산, 2위 경남으로 경찰 인력이 집중돼 있다.
부산 강서구, 김해지역을 포함해 170만 일반시민의 공공의료서비스에 대한 수요도 크다는 점이 후보지 여건상 큰 장점이다.
또한 수도권과 비수도권의 지역 의료격차 해소 등 국가 균형 공공의료 서비스 제공 관점에서도 최적의 입지라는 점이 이날 현장 실사를 통해 여실히 드러났다.
