[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 의령군 역사상 첫 실내종합체육관이 탄생했다.
의령군 서동행정타운 내 의병문화체육관이 23일 준공식을 갖고 본격 운영에 들어갔다.
2019년 12월 착공한 의병문화체육관은 의령읍 서동리 530에 115억원을 들여 건립했다.
배드민턴, 농구, 배구 등 다양한 실내 스포츠를 즐길 수 있으며 787개의 관람석과 이동식 무대도 갖추어 체육행사 등 다양한 행사 개최도 가능하다.
지하 1층, 지상 2층, 건축 전체면적 3,595㎡ 규모의 다목적체육관이다.
체육관은 임시 운영을 거쳐 내년 2월부터 정식으로 이용할 수 있다.
의령군은 서동행정타운 내에 의병문화체육관이 개관하면서 자족형 복합행정타운 도시개발사업이 차츰 속도가 붙고 있다고 전망했다.
의령군은 내년 개관하는 경상남도교육청 미래교육원를 필두로 교육·문화·복지·관광이 균형 잡힌 도시로 의령을 새롭게 디자인한다는 구상이다.
이번에 건립한 의병문화체육관을 포함해 경찰서 교육지원청 등 굵직한 공공기관, 업무 지원 시설을 서동행정타운에 한데 모아 ‘자족도시’ 조성을 서두른다는 전략이다.
의병문화체육관 인근에는 실외운동장, 전천후게이트볼장, 테니스장, 족구장과 같은 야외 체육시설과 국민체육센터 등이 자리 잡고 있어 의령군민 누구나 다양한 실내·외 스포츠를 즐길 수 있는 최적의 환경이 조성됐다.
