국내 27번째 원자력발전소 신한울1호기 상업운전 시작

6일, 한국수력원자력(사장 황주호, 이하 한수원)에 따르면 신한울 1호기(APR1400)는 발전용량 1400㎿급 대형 원전으로 원자로 냉각재 펌프(RCP)와 원전 계측제어시스템(MMIS) 등 핵심 설비의 국산화를 통해 기술 자립을 한 국내 최초의 원전으로 아랍에미리트(UAE)에 수출한 모델이다

상업운전은 시운전시험을 통해 최종 안전성을 확인하고, 정부로부터 승인 받아 본격적으로 전력을 생산하기 시작하는 것을 말한다. 신한울 1호기는 지난 2017년 4월 상업 운전을 시작하려했으나 경주 지진에 따른 부지 안전성 평가 등의 이유로 일정이 연기됐다.

황주호 한수원 사장은 “안전을 최우선으로 신한울1호기를 운영해 겨울철 전력수급에 기여할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
