[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 한국관광공사 등 관광분야 공공 협의체인 전국관광기관협의회가 추진한 ‘2022년 친환경 추천 여행지 발굴·선정 사업’에 거제 정글돔이 최종 선정됐다.
‘2022년 친환경 추천여행지 발굴·선정 사업’은 한국관광공사가 전국관광기관협의회와 함께 저탄소 관광생태계 구축과 친환경 여행문화 확산을 위해 전국 주요 관광지를 대상으로 심사와 평가를 통해 선정하는 것으로 지난 5일 전국 25개소를 최종 선정했다.
경상남도에서는 “거제 정글돔”과 “하동 탄소없는 마을” 2개소가 이름을 올렸다.
이번에‘2022년 친환경 추천 여행지’로 선정된 거제 정글돔은 친환경 에너지인 히트펌프와 태양광을 이용해 온실 내부 온도를 유지하는 국내 최대 돔형 유리온실로 사계절 다양한 식물의 생태체험이 가능하며 새둥지 모형, 전망대, 폭포, 빛의 동굴 등 다양한 포토존이 설치되어 있어, 탄소중립실천 관광자원으로 호평을 받았다.
또한 관람자에게 식물문화 배움의 장을 제공하고 안식과 즐거움, 휴식을 선사하는 힐링 장소로 환경을 보전하고 지속 가능한 미래가치를 함양하는 거제시의 대표적인 친환경 관광지로 주변에 국내 최대 슬라이드 체험시설인 거제식물원정글타워, 오수마을 갈대습지, 거제파노라마케이블카 등 다양한 관광지가 연계되어 있어 볼거리도 풍족하다.
거제시 관계자는 “천혜의 경관을 가진 거제의 자연을 기반으로 환경 친화적이고 미래 성장가치가 있는 관광자원을 발굴하고 친환경 여행문화를 확산하는데 더욱 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
