지난 6일 개최된 2022년 국가균형발전 우수사례 시상식에서 파주시는 ‘용주골 창조문화밸리 프로젝트’ 사업으로 전국 총 총 49건의 사업 중에서 시군구 부문에서 경기도 내 유일하게 파주시가 선정되어 균형발전위원장상을 수상했다.

국가균형발전위원회는 우수사례의 성공모델 확산과 벤치마킹을 위해 매년 지자체별 우수사례를 선정하고 우수사례집을 발간하고 있다.
파주시는 행안부 선정 특수상황지역개발사업인 용주골 창조문화밸리 프로젝트의 일환으로 한국교육방송공사(EBS)와 업무협약을 통해 EBS연풍길 조성사업을 추진했다.
특히 ‘잊혀진 연풍의 이름을 찾고 새로운 기억을 입다’라는 도시재생의 의미를 담은 연풍 로컬브랜딩과 공영주차장, 상설문화공간 조성, 작가 공방거리 조성 등 공간 활성화를 통해 도시재생사업지를 활성화하고 균형발전을 실현했다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

이번 시상식에서는 우수사례로 선정된 지자체(기관)와 개인 표창을 수여하고 파주시 포함 4개 지자체가 균형발전 대표 우수사례 발표회를 진행했다. 파주시에서는 이번 사업의 주민협의체 대표 성경용 개발위원장이 수상했으며, 파주시 도시재생과 이길 팀장이 사업의 평가와 벤치마킹 가능성을 주제로 발표회를 진행했다.
김경일 파주시장은 “용주골 창조문화밸리 프로젝트가 균형발전사업 우수사례로 선정된 만큼 도시재생사업의 모범사례가 될 것”이라며 “이번 성과를 바탕으로 주민 삶의 질 향상과 국가균형발전에 기여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.[파주=박정호 기자]
