‘죽변해안스카이레일’은 천혜 바다를 즐기며 어디에서도 보지 못한 시원한 동해 바다의 인생 사진을 남길 수 있는 울진군의 대표 관광지로, 투명한 에메랄드빛 울진 바다를 바로 발밑으로 달리며 바다 위에서 바다를 볼 수 있고, 레일 전동차를 직접 운전하는 듯한 색다른 경험을 할 수 있다.
또한‘죽변해안스카이레일’근처에는 죽변등대, 후정해수욕장, 하트해변, 국립해양과학관 그리고 동해안의 해산물을 모두 맛볼 수 있는 죽변항까지 주위에 여러 볼거리와 아름다운 관광지가 함께 어우러져 있어 울진군을 방문하면 꼭 방문해야 하는 필수 코스로 자리매김하고 있다.

손병복 울진군수는“관광 활성화는 곧 지역경제의 활성화이자 군민의 행복과도 직결되는 사항이다”며“일자리 창출과 인구 증가의 근본적 해결방안이며, 앞으로 1,000만 관광객 시대를 열어 일자리와 인구가 늘어나고 군민이 잘사는 울진을 만들도록 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
