세종시가 출범 이래 최대 규모의 국비를 확보했다.
24일 정부 예산안이 국회 본회의를 통과하면서 세종시가 요청한 정부 지원예산이 확정된 가운데, 세종시는 역대 최대 규모인 1조 3874억 원의 정부 지원예산을 확보했다고 밝혔다.
24일 국회 본회의를 통과한 내년 정부예산 중 세종시 관련 예산은 정부안 대비 488억 원(3.6%) 증가한 총 1조 3874억 원으로, 이는 적극적인 정부예산 증액 활동을 펴온 결과로 세종시는 내년도 미래전략수도 건설을 위한 주요 현안사업 추진에 속도를 낼 수 있게 됐다.
특히 이번 예산에는 2027 하계세계대학경기대회를 개최하기 위해 필요한 대평동 종합체육시설 건립비 2억 원이 신규 반영됐고, 행정수도 완성을 위한 ‘국회세종의사당 건립’ 부지매입비 350억 원과 대통령 공약사항인 ‘대통령 제2집무실’ 건립비 3억 원 등 주요 사업도 증액 반영됐다.
또 교통편의 관련 예산으로 세종～안성 고속국도 건립사업 차로 확대(4→6차선) 예산 50억 원과 ‘공주～세종 간선급행버스체계(BRT) 구축사업’ 공사비 14억 원이 증액 반영됐으며 세종～청주 고속도로 사업비 1,003억 원도 감액 없이 반영됐다.
자치단체의 예기치 못한 지역 현안, 재난, 국가 시책 등 특별한 재정수요를 보전하기 위한 특별교부세 역시 상반기 28억 1,100만 원(16건), 하반기 117억 2,400만 원(38건) 등 총 145억 3,500만 원(54건)을 확보하여 출범 이후 역대 최대 규모의 성과를 거뒀다
한편 최민호 세종시장은 이번 국비확보를 위해 그동안 수차례 국회를 방문해 지역구 국회의원과 협력체계를 구축하고 국회 및 정부 관계자를 만나 세종시 발전을 위한 적극적인 지원과 관심을 건의해왔었다.
