1992년 『현대시학』으로 등단했던 이종만 시인이 <경남문화예술진흥원의 문화예술지원금>을 수혜하여 세 번째 시집 『양봉일지』를 《실천문학사》에서 출간했다. 시인은 장성 후 평생이다시피한 40여 년을 양봉을 생업으로 꽃을 쫓아 벌과 함께 남에서 북으로 다시 북에서 남으로 이동하며 살면서 시를 쓰고 있다. 유럽의 알프스 산자락에 양치기 소년(牧童)이 있었다면, 동아시아 한반도의 산자락에는 벌치기 노년(養蜂翁)인 시인이 있다. 양치기 소년은 혼자 그 외로움과 무서움을 못 이겨 동서고금적인 거짓말쟁이가 되었지만, 우리의 시인은 사십여 년을 한결같이 꿀벌들과 동거동고락(同居同苦樂)하고 있다. 문교 당국이 수여한 학위는 중졸이 전부지만, 시인은 꿀벌들과 함께 완성한 ‘표절 한 자 없는 박사 논문’(「양봉 일지10-박사 학위」)을 바람과 햇살로부터 수여 받은 우리 시대의 참 박사이다. 이 시집‘양봉일지’는 1부 ‘양봉일지’ 외에 자연과 벗하며 땀으로 체험한 양봉옹의 한평생 삶의 지혜가 고스란히 배어 있는 충분히 읽을 가치가 있는 빼어난 시집이다. -윤한룡(실천문학 대표)
