브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 경기도 성남시 대장동 개발 특혜 의혹과 관련, 화천대유자산관리 대주주인 김만배씨와 돈거래를 한 현직 언론사 간부들의 해고 및 사퇴가 이어졌다.
한겨레신문은 지난 10일 김만배씨와 9억여원의 금전거래를 한 것으로 파악된 A 전 편집국 간부에 대한 해고를 발표했다.
한겨레는 "인사위원회를 열고 A씨가 취업규칙에 규정된 청렴공정 의무와 품위 유지 규정, 윤리강령, 취재보도준칙의 이해충돌 회피 조항 등을 위반했으며 회사 명예도 훼손했다고 판단, 이같은 결정을 내렸다"고 밝혔다.
또한 류이근 한겨레 편집국장이 총체적 지휘·관리 책임을 지고 보직에서 사퇴한다고 전했다. 김현대 한겨레 사장 역시 다음달 초 대표이사 선거로 차기 사장이 결정되면 사퇴하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
한국일보는 13일 김만배씨와 돈거래를 한 뉴스룸 간부를 해고했다고 밝혔다.
한국일보는 이날 인사위원회 결과를 공개하며 "이 간부는 이자율 등이 상궤를 벗어나지 않았고, 김만배씨의 구속에 따른 계좌 압류로 제때 이자 등을 지급하기 어려웠다고 해명했으나, 인사위는 사인 간 거래의 정상성이 불분명하고 이자 지급 시기, 이자율도 사인 간 거래에서 통상적이지 않은 것으로 판단했다"며 해고 이유를 전했다.
그러면서 "대장동 사건이 불거진 후 김씨와의 금전 거래 사실을 회사에 보고하고 신속히 해소할 직업윤리적 책무가 있었지만 이를 이행하지 않아 고도의 도덕성이 요구되는 언론기관으로서 한국일보의 신뢰성, 공정성이 크게 훼손됐다"고 덧붙였다.
아울러 김씨와 돈거래 사실이 밝혀진 중앙일보 간부급 기자도 사표를 냈다.
이 간부는 당초 2018년 김씨에게 8000만원을 빌려줬다가 1년 뒤 이자를 합쳐 9000만원을 돌려받았다고 해명했지만 사내 조사에서 2020년 6월 1억원을 더 받은 사실이 드러났다. 이에 중앙일보는 별도의 징계 절차없이 이 간부의 사표를 수리했다.
한편 한국기자협회는 주요 언론사 간부급들과 김만배씨의 돈거래 의혹에 대해 "무겁게 반성한다"며 "해당 언론사의 철저한 진상조사와 합당한 징계 그리고 재발 방지책 마련을 촉구한다. 해당 언론사들의 진상조사가 모두 끝나면 기자협회 차원의 징계도 논의할 것"이라고 발표했다.
