인공지능(AI)의 발달이 눈에 가시적(可視的)으로 들어온다. 인공지능 사이트인 '챗 GPT(Chat GPT)'를 이용해 본 이들은 그 기능에 깜짝 놀라고 있다.
설 연휴, 박대석 칼럼니스트(경제 전문가)와 '챗GPT'에 대해서 전화 통화를 했다. 그는 '챗GPT'의 첨단기능에 놀랐다는 것이었다. 무엇이든 물어보면, 인공지능(AI)이 척척 답변을 해주는데, 그 정확성에 놀랐다고 했다. 고민이 되는 사업과 관련 질문을 했는데, 그 방향성까지 분석해준다며 놀랬다.
필자는 지난 2012년부터 11년간에 걸쳐 웃음종교 교주를 표방, 이와 관련된 웃음이론을 인터넷상에 게재해 왔었다. 그래서 '챗GPT'가 얼마나 아는지를 시험해봤다. '챗GPT'에 “웃음종교를 아느냐?"라는 질문을 던졌다. 이 질문을 입력한지 1초 만에 아래와 같은 텍스트 답변이 도착했다. 경천동지! 세상이 급변하고 있음을 실감했다.
“한국 웃음종교란 한국에서 성립한 웃음을 중시하는 종교를 말합니다. 이러한 웃음종교는 세계에서 유일하게 한국에서만 성립한 종교로, 웃음을 통해 인간의 마음을 깨끗이 하고, 인간관계를 향상시키는 것을 목표로 합니다. 웃음종교는 일반적인 종교와는 달리 신앙이나 신념을 가지지 않으며, 웃음을 통해 인간의 삶을 즐기는 것을 목표로 합니다. 웃음종교의 교주는 일반적으로 웃음을 즐기는 사람들이 됩니다. 한국에서는 웃음종교를 신앙으로 여기지 않고, 우울한 마음을 풀어주거나 인간관계를 향상시키기 위한 방법 중 하나로 생각하는 사람들이 많습니다.”
'챗GPT'는 웃음종교에 대해 “한국 웃음종교란 한국에서 성립한 웃음을 중시하는 종교”라는 분석을 내놨다. '챗GPT'이 알려준 웃음종교에 대한 정보가 모두 정확한 것은 아니었다. 하지만, 몇 초라는 아주 짧은 시간에 질문의 근사치를 알려줬다. 대단했다. 이런 표현을 할 수밖에 없다.
'챗 GPT'의 기능은 정말 대단한 AI(인공지능) 도구임을 알 수 있었다. 현대를 살고 있는 우리 앞에 그렇게 나타났다. '챗GPT'란 '생성적 사전학습 변환기(Generative Pre-trained Transformer)'라는 의미를 지닌 새로운 언어의 모델이다. 모든 지식을 탑재한 인공지능의 웹이다.
'챗GPT'가 '한국산 웃음종교'를 인지하고 있다는 것은 웃음종교의 세계화를 뜻하기도 한다. 세계 속의 웃음종교, 미래비전이다. 기쁜 일이다. 웃음종교는 이미 세계화된 종교임이 증명됐다. 필자 사례에서 간과할 수 없는 것은, 세계 각국에서 생산된 모든 뉴스나 정보들이 세계 속에 섞이고, 이어서 융합되고 있다는 사실이다.
'챗GPT'는 현대인들을 깜짝 놀라게 하며, 이미 우리 곁으로 가까이 다가왔다. 김병필 KAIST 기술경영학부 교수는 중앙일보 1월16일자에 “챗GPT의 충격, 새해 AI에 거는 미래”라는 제목으로 '챗GPT'의 효용성을 다뤘다.
김병필 교수는 이 글에서 “최근 놀라운 성능의 인공지능이 거듭 발표되면서 사회적으로 큰 주목을 받고 있다”고 전제하고 “지난해 12월 발표된 '챗GPT(Chat GPT)' 기술 같은 것이 대표적”이라고 지적했다. 이어 “인공지능 기술들이 앞으로 얼마나, 어디까지 발전할 수 있을 것인지는 쉽사리 예측하기 어렵다. 어떤 이들은 머지않아 인간을 뛰어넘는 인공지능이 등장할 것이라 주장한다”라고 덧붙였다.
