창원특례시에서는 22년 3월 마산합포구 신포(척산)지구 풍수해 생활권 정비사업 및 성산구 신촌지구 우수저류시설 설치사업을 행정안전부 23년 신규 사업대상지로 신청하였으며, 이후 신규 사업 선정과 국·도비 확보를 위해,중앙부처에 지속적으로 방문 건의하는 등 적극적인 국비확보 활동으로 23년 신규 사업 대상지구(2개 사업, 총사업비 569억원)로 선정됐다.
사업대상지인 마산합포구 신포(척산)지구는 2003년 태풍 ’매미‘,2012년 태풍 ’산바‘ 등 태풍과 집중호우 시 상습적인 침수로 인해 인명과 재산 피해가 크게 발생한 재해예방사업 추진이 시급한 지역으로 415억원의 사업비로 2023년 실시설계용역,2024년 공사 착공하여 하천정비 L=1.2km, 배수펌프장 증설 1개소 및 신설 1개소, 우수관로 정비 L=1.8km와 재난 예·경보시설 등을 2026년까지 설치 완료할 예정이다.
