브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이상민 행정안전부 장관에 대한 탄핵소추안이 8일 국회 본회의를 통과했다. 국무위원이 탄핵된 것은 75년 헌정 사상 처음이다.
더불어민주당 등 야 3당이 이상민 장관의 이태원 참사 대응 부실 책임을 묻겠다며 공동 발의한 탄핵소추안은 이날 본회의에서 총투표수 293표 중 찬성 179표, 반대 109표, 무효 5표로 의결됐다. 재적 국회의원 과반 이상이 찬성해야 의결된다.
탄핵소추안에는 이 장관이 헌법과 재난안전법, 국가공무원법 등을 위반했으며 행정안전부 장관으로서 부여받은 임무를 제때 수행하지 않아 사고를 키웠다는 주장이 담겼다.
이 장관은 참사 발생 인지 후 재난대책본부를 제 때 가동하지 않았고, 수습본부 역시 설치하지 않았다고 지적했다. 또 현장 통제, 구급차 진출입로 확보 지연, 원활하지 못한 구조·구급 활동 등을 문제삼았다.

국회법에 따르면 국회 본회의를 통과한 탄핵소추 의결서는 이 장관에게 송달된 직후부터 효력이 발생한다. 이 장관이 의결서를 받아본 직후부터 직무는 정지된다.
이후 헌재법에 따라 국회 법사위원장인 김도읍 국민의힘 의원이 검사 역할을 하는 소추위원이 된다. 야당이 추진한 탄핵안을 여당 의원이 청구해야 하는 상황인 셈이다.
국회는 또한 헌법재판소에 탄핵소추 의결서를 접수했다. 헌재는 탄핵소추안 접수일로부터 180일 이내에 판결을 내려야 한다. 재판관 9인 가운데 6인 이상이 찬성하면 탄핵이 확정된다.
법조계에선 이 장관의 직무가 정지된 상태이기 때문에 헌재가 최대한 이른 시간 내에 판결을 내릴 것으로 보고 있다.
