김한영 국가철도공단 이사장이 8일 춘천~속초 동서고속화철도 사업 현장을 찾아 점검했다.
이날 김한영 이사장은 지난 춘천∼속초 동서고속화철도 사업현장을 찾아 안전관리와 진행상황을 점검하고 적기 개통을 당부했다.
김 이사장은 “춘천에서 속초를 연결하는 동서고속화철도가 개통되면 화천, 양구, 인제 등 강원도 북부지역 경제 발전과 관광산업 촉진 등 다양한 파급효과가 기대된다”며 사업의 중요성을 강조했다.
또 “2027년 개통에 차질 없도록 공정관리와 안전사고 예방을 위한 현장 관리에 철저를 기해달라”고 요청했다.
한편, 동서고속화 철도사업은 사업비 2조 4,444억원을 투입해 춘천에서 속초까지 93.7km 구간을 단선전철로 연결하며 2027년 사업이 완료되면 용산에서 속초까지 99분만에 이동 가능하다.
