브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= bhc그룹의 대학생 봉사단체인 ‘해바라기 봉사단’이 제3세계 아이들을 위한 봉사에 나섰다.
bhc그룹은 13일 보도자료를 통해 해바라기 봉사단 7기 1조가 지난달 10일 서울 강남구에 위치한 따뜻한 대한민국 만들기(워밍코리아)를 방문해 제3세계 빈곤층 아이들을 위한 특별한 제작 활동에 참여했다고 밝혔다.
해바라기 봉사단이 함께한 워밍코리아는 1020 세대인 청소년과 청년들의 대외활동 지원을 위해 설립된 비영리 단체다. 해바라기 봉사단 또래의 청년들이 주축이 돼 도움이 필요한 사회적 이슈를 발굴하고, 수혜 대상자 조사 및 모금 활동 기획 등 봉사 프로그램 전반을 운영하고 있다.
해바라기 봉사단 7기 1조는 ‘워밍코리아 구호물품 만들기’ 프로그램에 동참하며 동남아 빈민 마을 아동들을 위한 학용품 만들기에 나섰다. 수혜 대상은 필리핀 세부의 ‘패절 바랑가이’ 마을 아이들이다. 해당 지역은 실제 세부 전역에서 흘러나오는 오·폐수가 통과하며 악취와 비위생적인 환경에 노출된 일명 ‘오폐수 마을’로 불린다.
구호 물품은 144개의 나노 블록으로 완성되는 블록필통으로, 아이들 교육에 필요한 연필과 지우개 및 공책 세트 등의 필기구를 함께 담아 아이들에게 전달된다. 봉사단원들은 학용품 제작과 더불어 응원 편지 작성 및 택배 발송 작업까지 시행하며 봉사를 마무리했다.
bhc그룹 관계자는 “해바라기 봉사단의 취지 중 하나가 바로 미래를 이끌어갈 청년 봉사단원들의 사회적 가치 함양이자, 봉사단 활동을 통한 선한 영향력을 전파”라며 “앞으로도 bhc그룹은 봉사단 활동은 물론 기업의 사회적 책임을 다하기 위한 다양한 사회공헌활동을 펼쳐나갈 예정이다”고 전했다.
