세종시가 세종사랑상품권 여민전 구매한도를 40만 원으로 상향하는 등 여민전 소비 확대를 통한 지역경제 활성화에 나선다.
세종시의 이번 결정은 코로나19 장기화, 고금리, 물가상승 등으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 소상공인의 매출 증대와 시민의 지출 부담을 완화하기 위해 추진됐다.
이를 위해 세종시는 개인 구매 한도를 현행 30만 원에서 40만 원으로 늘리고 적립금도 5%에서 7%로 상향 조정한다고 밝혔다.
적립금이 7%로 상향되면서 소비자가 받을 수 있는 적립금 혜택은 월 최대 1만 5000원에서 2만 8000원까지 대폭 늘어나게 된다.
지난 2020년 3월부터 발행해 곧 세 돌을 맞는 여민전은 2020년부터 3년간 총 8284억 원을 발행했으며 지역 내 소비 진작을 통한 경제 활성화에 기여했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
세종시는 올해 여민전 발행을 지난해보다 10% 증가한 3630억 원으로 계획하고 있고, 원활한 사업 추진을 위해 세종시의회와도 긴밀한 협력체계를 이어 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.
