국민의힘 소속 세종시의원 김학서, 김광운·김동빈·김충식·윤지성·최원석 의원 등 6명은 28일 시의회 회의실에서 오는 3월 8일 치뤄지는 국민의힘 당 대표 경선에서 김기현 후보 지지를 선언했다.

이들은 "내년 총선에서 압도적인 승리로 극심한 여소야대 국회 지형을 극복하고, 윤석열 정부의 개혁 과제를 완수할 수 있는 사람은 오로지 김 후보뿐"이라며 지지를 선언한다고 밝혔다.

입장문에서 "김 후보는 이미 당대표로서의 능력과 자질은 충분히 검증됐다"며 "이어진 지방선거에서도 압승을 거두며 큰 역할을 할 것"으로 기대된다고 했다.

이어 "집권 여당과 정부는 합이 잘 맞아야 한다. 김기현 후보는 대통령과 격의 없는 통을 하며 호흡을 맞출 수 있는 유일한 후보"라고 강조했다.
