15일 정부는 대통령 주재로 개최된 제14차 비상경제민생회의에서 울진 원자력수소 국가산업단지를 비롯한 신규 국가산업단지 후보지 14개소를 지정 발표했다.
이들 후보지는 사업시행자 선정, 타당성 검토 등 일정한 절차를 거쳐 국가산업단지로 조성된다.
울진 원자력수소 국가산업단지는 2030년까지 죽변 후정리 일원에 48만평 규모로 조성되며 조성비는 약 4,000억원이다.
울진 국가산단에는 국내 수소 관련 대기업을 비롯해 소부장 제조업체와 연구시설 등이 집적하게 된다. 국가혁신 수소 산업클러스터가 조성되어 탄소중립 시대 핵심과제인 국가 수소 산업을 울진이 중심이 되어 이끌어 나가게 될 전망이다.
지역경제효과는 생산유발효과 7조 1천억원, 고용유발효과 24,050명으로 막대한 파급효과가 예상된다.
손병복 울진군수는“성원해주신 군민들과 총력을 다해준 700여 공직자들께 깊은 감사의 말씀을 드린다”며“울진은 인구소멸, 지방소멸이라는 시대적 위기 속에서 미래 백년을 책임질 큰 성장동력을 가지게 되었다”라고 말했다.
