지난 3월17일-19일, 경남 하동군 청학동의 지리산 자락에 있는 삼성궁을 방문했다. 삼성궁의 창립자인 한풀 선사(세속 명=강민주)는 한국이 낳은 '특수한 인물'이다. 그는 지리산 청학동 일대의 부동산 137만평의 주인. 지난 55년 간 삼성궁 일대에 80억 개 정도의 돌을 이용, 돌탑을 맨손으로 쌓아 국제적인 문화재급 관광지를 만들었기 때문이다.
삼성궁, 이곳은 한국의 세계적인 힐링 장소로도 이름이 나있다. 입장료를 받는, 하동군 소재, 유명관광지로 이미 자리를 잡았다. 1년, 이 지역에 600억원 정도의 관광 부수효과를 창출하는 주역으로 성장했다.

한풀 선사는 옷차림부터 평범(平凡)이 아닌, 비범(非凡)이다. 옛 화랑의 복장이란다. 외모 풍김이 도인답다. 검도 8단 등, 무술이 도합 52단에 다다른다. 고미술품 12만점도 소장, 이후 삼성궁 내부에 세계에 내로라할 규모의 미술관-박물관 건립이 예상된다.
삼성궁 일대의 관광에 나섰다. 세계, 그 어디에도 없는 수 백 개의 돌탑들이 '예술'이다. 세계에서도 유일한 '돌탑' 관광지이다. 지난 55년 간, 한 돌 한 돌 쌓아올려 인간 투지(鬪志)가 어디까지인가를, 감탄케 한다. 눈에 들어오는 특이한 축조물들, 그 수고로움에 눈물이 날 지경이다. 직접 봐야만, 범상치 않는 관광지임을 알 수 있다. 삼성궁은 이미 유별난 세계적인 관광장소로 거듭나 있었다.
삼성궁 관람한 이후 "난 그동안, 인생 내내 뭘 했지?"라는 말이 입에서 저절로 새어 나왔다.

한풀 선사는 세계적인 건축가 '프랭크 개리'와도 친분이 있는, 세계적인 '대지 설계가'임을 자처한다. 이미, 그에 의해, 삼성궁이라는 엄청난 규모의 '별난 예술세상' 하나가 만들어져 있기 때문이다.
