브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차가 대한민국 축구 국가대표팀이 최상의 컨디션으로 경기에 나설 수 있도록 대한축구협회(KFA)에 전용버스를 후원한다.
현대차는 지난 20일 파주 NFC(축구 대표팀 트레이닝센터)에서 국내사업본부장 유원하 부사장, 위르겐 클린스만 축구 국가대표팀 감독, 대한축구협회 이영표 부회장 등 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 차량 전달식을 열고 프리미엄 고속버스인 ‘유니버스’ 1대를 대한축구협회에 제공했다고 21일 밝혔다.
‘유니버스’는 29인승 버스로, △운전자 주의 경고(DSW) △전방 충돌 방지 보조(FCA) △스마트 크루즈 컨트롤(SCC) △스티어링 햅틱 기능 등 안전 기술이 대거 적용됐다.
특히, 현대차는 이번 전달식을 클린스만 신임 감독 부임 이후 축구 국가대표팀 첫 소집일에 진행해 한국 축구의 새로운 시작을 응원한다는 의미를 더했다.
현대차는 한국 축구의 든든한 동반자로 1999년부터 25년째 지속적인 재정 및 현물 지원을 이어 나가고 있다. 올해는 전용버스 외에도 ‘스타리아 카고’ 차량을 후원해 대표팀의 훈련 및 경기를 지원하는 대한축구협회 직원들이 각종 물품과 장비를 싣고 안전하게 이동할 수 있도록 도울 예정이다. 지난해에는 대한축구협회의 친환경 모빌리티로의 전환을 지원하기 위해 업무용 차량으로 아이오닉 5를 제공한 바 있다.
