보도자료는 “이 전시는 한국 문화의 고유성과 특수성을 파악하고 공유하여 K-Culture의 새로운 가능성을 한글서예라는 장르에서 찾아보고자 한다. 한글의 세계성을 확인하고 이를 통해 예술적 가능성과 예술산업으로서의 발전 가능성을 가늠해 보는 전시로서, 한글 창제 이후의 고전 서예로부터 근대 이후의 전통적인 서예, 캘리그라피 등 새로운 시각의 서예를 선보이며 한글 굿즈, 한글 디자인이 활용된 생활용품 등으로 대중과 함께하는 예술로서의 한글을 지향한다”고 알리고 “다양성 확보를 위한 또 하나의 시도는 참여 작가 선정에서도 엿보인다. 한글서예가 주제라 하여 기존의 한글서예 작가들만 참여하는 것은 아니다. 한문서예가, 문인화가, 캘리그라피작가들이 새로운 시각으로 해석하는 한글서예를 선보임으로써 한글서예의 지평을 넓혀 줄 것으로 기대한다. 또한 중견, 원로작가와 더불어 패기 넘치는 청년작가들과 전국의 유수한 공모전이나 휘호대회 등을 통해 실력을 검증받은 초중고 학생들이 대거 참여한다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “이번 전시를 통해 한글서예와 서예 전반에 관한 저변확대와 한글-서예의 예술적 가치를 넘어서는 산업적 가치를 발견하고, 청년작가들의 창작 기회 보장과 일자리 창출에도 기여할 것으로 기대한다”고 덧붙였다.
'2023 한국 서예 큰마당 축제'는 4월 6일부터 5월 28일까지 서울 예술의전당 서예박물관 전관에서 3개 부문으로 나누어 전시된다. 입장료는 무료(월요일 휴관).
