국가균형발전위원회가 4일 세종시 어진동 KT&G 세종타워에서 현판식을 갖고 세종 시대를 열었다.
이날 현판식은 최민호 세종시장을 비롯해 우동기 국가균형발전위원장 등 내빈 50여 명이 참석했다.
국가균형발전위원회 이전은 윤석열 대통령이 지난해 9월 27일 정부세종청사에서 열린 국무회의에서 지방시대위원회의 세종 설치를 약속에 따른 것이다.
국가균형발전위원회의 세종시대 개막으로 균형발전의 새로운 구심점이 되고, 지방시대 완성을 위한 다양한 지역 균형발전정책 추진이 탄력을 받을 것 이라는게 관계자의 설명이다.
또 윤석열 대통령의 주요 지역공약과제인 국립 중입자가속기연구센터, 충청권 광역교통망 구축, 글로벌 청년 창업빌리지 조성 등의 추진에도 속도가 붙을 것으로 전망된다.
특히 윤석열 정부의 지방시대 주요 정책인 기회발전특구 및 교육자유특구 등이 급물살을 탈 것으로 예상된다.
시는 이에 발맞춰 교육 수요자의 선택권을 확대하기 위한 교육자유특구를 세종에서 시범 시행하고, 다수의 정부기관이 위치한 지역 특성을 살려 사이버보안 산업 중심의 기회발전특구 지정을 추진한다.
여기에 국회 세종의사당과 대통령 세종집무실 설치를 서둘러 명실상부한 미래전략수도이자 지방시대 완성을 위한 선도도시로 발돋움을 준비한다는 구상이다.
