최상대 차관은 이날 포스코 국제관에서 R&D기관 및 지역전문가·대학생·공무원 등 300여 명을 대상으로 지역 경제발전 비전과 전략을 주제로 강연을 진행했다.
최 차관은 이날 강연에서 “인구감소 시대에 지역의 발전 없이는 국가 경제 성장도 없다는 패러다임 전환에서부터 새 정부의 지역 경제발전 비전이 시작된다”며, “지역투자를 확충하고 중앙정부와 지자체 사업 간 긴밀한 협조로 시너지를 내는 것이 상생할 수 있는 전략”이라고 강조했다.

김남일 포항시 부시장은 주요 사업 현장을 함께 둘러보며 3·4세대 방사광가속기는 매년 이용신청과 실험 수행 건수가 증가하면서 우수한 논문 성과가 꾸준히 도출되고 있음을 설명했고, 국제공인 시험기관인 수소연료전지 인증센터는 현재 수소연료전지 발전 클러스터 구축사업이 예타 심사 진행 중으로 포스텍, RIST, 포스코 등 연구 인프라와 산업화 기반 시설이 잘 갖춰진 포항이 수소연료전지 산업육성의 최적지임을 강조했다.
