[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] '의병의 날'을 국가기념일로 만든 '의병의 성지' 의령군이 '의병출정식'을 열고 축제 이름을 바꾸고 처음 개최되는 '의령홍의장군축제'의 새로운 비상을 알렸다.
12일 오후 2시, 의령군민의 자부심이자 의병의 상징인 의병탑에서는 임진왜란 당시 곽재우 장군이 최초로 의병을 일으켰던 1592년 4월 22일, 그날이 재현됐다.
의령군은 반세기 가까이 열렸던 의병제전의 축제명을 '의령홍의장군축제'로 바꿔 새 출발 하면서 '의병의 가치'를 전국 방방곡곡에 전파하기 위해 '의병출정식'을 기획했다.
의병출정문을 낭독한 의병기념사업회 회장인 오태완 의령군수는 "곽재우 장군과 17장령, 그리고 이름없는 의병까지 이들의 나라와 이웃을 위한 희생의 숭고한 가치가 시작된 곳이 의령"이라며 "지금 우리 의령은 '의병정신'을 시대정신으로 삼고 다시 의병을 이야기하고자 한다"고 운을 뗐다.
