KT&G가 잎담배 농가의 안정적인 경작을 돕기 위해 지난 14일 경북 문경지역에서 잎담배 이식 봉사활동을 전개했다.
17일 KT&G에 따르면 KT&G 원료본부와 김천공장 소속 30여명의 임직원들은 경북 문경시 농암면에 위치한 잎담배 농가를 찾아 약 10,000㎡(3,025평) 규모 농지에서 육묘를 운반하고 약 20,000주의 모종을 이식했다.
잎담배 경작은 밭에 씨앗을 뿌려 키우지 않고 육묘시설에서 모종을 길러 이식하는 과정을 거친다. 특히, 모종 이식은 잎담배 농사의 결실을 좌우하는 중요한 작업이다.
이에 KT&G는 노동력 확보에 어려움을 겪는 농가의 일손을 돕고, 우수한 품질의 잎담배 생산 기술을 전수하고자 2007년부터 17년째 잎담배 농가 봉사활동을 진행하고 있다.
