브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 검찰이 2021년 더불어민주당 전당대회 불법 자금 살포 의혹 수사에 속도를 내고 있다.
19일 법조계에 따르면 검찰은 상당한 증거 수집 및 정황을 포착하면서 혐의 입증에 자신감을 보이고 있다.
특히 의혹의 중심에 서 있는 송영길 전 대표가 직접 돈봉투를 살포한 정황까지 나오고 있는 상황이다.
JTBC는 민주당 전대를 20여일 앞둔 2021년 4월 10일, 송영길 당대표 후보 캠프의 핵심 멤버인 이전근 전 사무부총장이 강래구 한국수자원공사 상임감사와의 통화 녹취파일을 입수해 보도했다.
이 통화에선 앞서 이성만 의원이 전달해준 돈봉투를 캠프 지역본부장들에게 나눠준 사실을 송영길 전 대표에게도 보고했다는 내용이 담겼다. 송영길 전 대표는 보고를 받고선 돈을 건넨 강래구 감사를 격려해줬다고 내용도 포함됐다. 특히 송 전 대표가 따로 돈봉투를 나눠줬다는 취지의 발언까지 담겼고, 돈을 받은 인물의 실명까지도 언급됐다.
검찰 수사에 따르면 당시 민주당 의원들에게 전달하기 위해 만들어진 자금이 총 6000만원이며 지역본부장과 지역상황실장 등에게 전달하기 위해 마련한 자금은 3500만원이었다. 검찰은 실제로 9400만원이 전달된 것을 파악했다고 한다.
이에 검찰은 '돈 봉투' 의혹과 관련해 윤관석·이성만 의원을 포함해 총 9명을 피의자로 입건해 수사하고 있다.
특히 혐의 입증에 자신감을 보일 정도로 증거가 확보된 만큼, 최종 수사 종착지는 돈봉투를 받았다는 현역 민주당 의원 10명과 송영길 전 대표를 향해갈 것이란 게 대체적인 시각이다.
한편 이재명 민주당 대표는 지난 17일 "국민 여러분께 심려를 끼쳐드려서 깊이 사과드린다"며 "수사기관에 정치적 고려가 제외된 신속하고 공정한 수사를 요청한다"고 말했다.
다만 윤관석, 이성만 의원은 입장문을 내고 의혹을 전면 부인했다. 송영길 전 대표도 "난 모르는 일"이라면서 오는 22일 프랑스 파리에서 입장과 함께 조기귀국 여부에 대해서도 밝힐 예정이다.
