세종시의회가 17일부터 3일 동안 미르초 학생을 대상으로 의회 교실 견학프로그램을 운영했다.
19일 시의회에 따르면 의회 견학프로그램은 세종시의회에서 운영하는 청소년 의회교실 프로그램 중 하나다.
학생들이 직접 의회를 방문해 홍보관 및 본회의장을 체험하고, 담당 지역구 의원과 소통하는 방식으로 진행된다.
이번 ‘견학프로그램’은 학교의 신청에 따라 미르초 4학년 전체 학생이 참여했다. 학생들은 홍보관 방문 및 의회 홍보영상을 통해 의회의 기능과 4개 상임위원회 구성 및 역할 등을 배우는 시간을 가졌다.
지역구 의원인 안신일 의원(더불어민주당, 한솔ㆍ장군)을 만난 학생들은 호기심 가득한 얼굴로 어떻게 의원이 되었는지, 의원이 되면 어떤 일을 하는지 등 다양한 질문을 이어갔다.
안 의원은 “요즘 학생들이 꿈에 대한 열정도 많고 열심히 하려는 모습을 보여 세종시의 미래가 밝다”고 말했다. 또한 의정활동 질문에 “교육과 안전에 관심이 많아 현재 교육안전위원회에서 학생들의 교육 환경 개선에 노력하면서 지내고 있다” 라고 말했다.
이후 학생들은 2분 발언 및 표결체험, 시정 및 교육행정 질문 등을 체험하며 본회장에서 이루어지는 시의원들의 의정활동에 대해 체험했다
이어 ‘쓰레기통 늘리기 정책 필요’, ‘공영주차장 확대로 상가 활성화’ 등을 주제로 실시한 2분 발언에는 13명의 학생이 참여하여 긴장감 속에 날카로운 발언들을 이어갔다.
시정 및 교육행정질문에는 ▲저상버스 도입계획, ▲단지 내 자전거 사용 규제 필요, ▲킥보드 도난 방지 대책, ▲자전거 거치대 관리 및 세종안전교육 활성화 등 학생들의 시각에서 바라본 다양한 질문들을 생동감 있게 실시했다.
참여 학생 중 한 명은 “긴장되었지만, 세종시의회에서 새로운 체험을 할 수 있어 매우 좋았다”고 하며, “의회 체험을 하면서 시 의원들이 하는 일이 얼마나 힘든 일인지 알게 되었다”라고 말했다.
견학 말미에 안신일 의원은 “학생들은 세종시의 미래이며, 앞으로도 세종시에서 좋은 경험을 쌓아 자신들의 멋진 꿈을 펼쳤으면 한다”며 “오늘 의회 견학이 미르초 학생들에게 뜻깊고 유익한 의사결정의 장이 되길 바란다.”라고 말했다.
