동국대 건학위원회 동림선원, 장학금 전달

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스는 지난 23일 백주년기념관 중회의실에서 동국대학교 건학위원회 ‘동림선원 지역미래불자육성장학’ 장학증서 수여식을 개최했다고 24일 밝혔다.

장학증서 수여식에서 동국대 WISE캠퍼스에 재학 중인 경남 김해 지역 출신 재학생 10명에게 각각 장학금 100만 원을 수여했다.

이날 수여식에는 동림선원 주지 신공스님, 이영경 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스총장, 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 정각원장 철우스님, 교무학생처 김인홍 처장 등이 참석했다.

동림선원 주지 신공스님은 “동국대학교 건학위원회에서 마련해주신 좋은 기회로 동림선원이 인재불사에 동참할 수 있게 되어 기쁘다”며 “이번 장학금 수여식이 일회성으로 끝나는 것이 아니라 지속적으로 장학사업에 동참하고 동림선원과 학생들과의 인연이 시작되는 날로 생각할 것”이라며 “동국인으로서 자리매김하고 끊임없이 자기 자신의 개발을 위해 노력해 달라고“ 말했다.

이영경 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스총장은 “김해 동림선원에서 지역미래불자 육성을 위해 소중한 정재를 희사해 주셔서 감사드린다”며 “동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스는 건학이념의 구현과 지역의 미래 발전을 위해 최선의 노력을 다할것이며, 오늘 장학금을 수여 받는 학생들은 불자 장학생이라는 자부심을 가지고 동국의 건학이념과 지혜, 자비, 정진의 교훈을 늘 되새기며 지역의 미래와 불교의 천년을 빛내주는 자랑스런 인재로 성장해 주기를 바란다”고 말했다.

한편 건학위원회가 추진하는 지역 미래불자 육성장학은 지역사찰과 동국대에 재학 중인 해당지역 학생들을 연결해 장학금을 수여하는 건학위원회 사업의 일환으로 지역사회 공헌과 미래불자 육성 등 인재불사를 목표로 하고 있다. 사찰은 학생에게 장학금을 수여하고, 장학생은 ▲템플스테이 ▲각종 법회 참석 ▲재능기부 등 해당 사찰과 다양한 스킨십을 통해 해당사찰의 지역불교인재로 자연스럽게 성장하게 된다.
