브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= KCC는 광주 고려인 마을의 주거환경 개선을 위해 한국해비타트에 1억원을 기부했다고 30일 밝혔다.
이달 25일 광주광역시 광산구청에서 열린 고려인 마을 기부금 전달식에는 광산구청 박병규 구청장, KCC 광주영업소 임근홍 지점장, 사단법인 고려인 마을 이천영 교장, 한국해비타트 이광회 사무총장 등 관계자 11명이 참석해 실질적인 지원 방안에 대해 논의했다.
KCC는 고려인 동포의 안정된 정착을 위해 빈집을 개보수하고 주변 환경 정비에 나서며, KCC의 전문 인력과 고품질 친환경 건축자재를 투입할 예정이다.
국내 거주중인 고려인은 약 7만여명으로 그 중 10%인 7000여명이 광주 고려인 마을에서 집성촌을 이뤄 지내고 있다. 이번 지원은 국내로 들어오는 고려인 동포들 중 홀몸 여성이 늘어남에 따라 부족해진 쉼터를 마련, 안정적인 생활 환경을 제공하고 스스로 자립할 수 있는 여건을 조성하는데 사용된다.
KCC는 5월 현장 실사를 거쳐 공사 착수에 들어가 올해 하반기 완공을 목표로 사업을 추진한다는 계획이다.
KCC 관계자는 “많은 분들이 새로운 희망을 꿈꾸며 고국으로 돌아왔지만 현실에서는 사회적 경제적으로 많은 어려움에 직면하고 있다”며 “이번 쉼터가 이분들의 아픔과 상처를 조금이나마 치유하고 더 나은 삶을 위한 따뜻한 보금자리가 되길 기원한다”고 말했다.
한편, KCC는 열악한 주거지를 안전하고 쾌적한 환경으로 개선하기 위해 정부와 민간기업, 비영리단체 등이 뜻을 모아 진행하는 사회공헌 프로그램인 ‘온동네 숲으로’와 ‘새뜰마을 사업’을 2018년부터 6년간 이어오고 있다.
