’의병의 날‘은 임진왜란 때 망우당 곽재우 장군이 최초로 의병을 일으킨 음력 4월 22일을 양력으로 환산한 날로 2010년 법정기념일로 제정됐다.

의령군민의 수십 년 가까운 노력으로 제정된 의병의 날은 2011년 제1회 정부 주관 기념행사가 의령군에서 개최됐고 이후 매년 자체 기념식이 열리고 있다.

이날 기념행사는 의병창의문 봉독, 추모사, 헌시낭송, 만세삼창, 기념공연 순으로 이어졌다.
