[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 밀양시는 4일 영남루 내 아랑각에서 2023년도 아랑제향을 봉행했다.
아랑제향은 조선 명종 때 정절을 지키려다 억울하게 죽은 ‘아랑’설화를 바탕으로 매년 음력 4월 16일에 제향을 올리고 있다.
밀양아랑회 주관으로 봉행된 이번 제향은 관내 7개 고등학교에서 추천된 학생들이 직접 제관으로 참석했다.
시대변화에 따라 모범 규수 선발대회를 폐지하고 2021년부터 지역 내 고등학생이 제관으로 참석해 아랑낭자의 정순정신을 기리고 있다.
이날 참여한 학생들은 정갈한 한복을 입고 제를 올렸으며, 여학생 3명으로 구성된 헌관 외에 남학생 1명이 집사로 참여해 아랑제향의 변화된 모습을 실감하게 했다.
시 관계자는 “지역 학생들이 참가해 밀양 문화를 배우고 존중하면서 애향심과 자긍심을 갖는 계기가 되고 우리 고장의 전통과 정신을 이어간다는 점이 매우 뜻깊다”면서 “아랑 설화의 정순정신은 밀양의 3대 정신 중의 하나이자 지역의 역사와 전통을 잇는 근간으로 아랑의 역사와 정신을 선양하기 위한 노력을 계속해 나가겠다”고 전했다.
