해양수산부 중앙연안관리심의회는 지난 4월 영덕군의 공유수면 매립목적 변경 승인신청을 받은 이후 지난달 25일 이뤄진 매립지 현장 조사를 바탕으로 이달 8일까지 심의를 거친 결과 영덕군의 매립목적 변경 신청이 타당한 것으로 판단했다.
공유수면 매립지는 준공 검사일로부터 10년 이내 매립목적을 변경할 수 없지만 주변 여건의 변화 등으로 매립목적을 변경할 수밖에 없는 경우 중앙연안관리심의회 심의를 거쳐 공유수면 매립목적을 변경할 수 있다.
영덕 해상케이블카 조성은 민간 자본 336억 원을 투입해 삼사해상공원과 해파랑공원 사이 1.3km를 잇는 사업으로, 그간 사업 진행의 가장 큰 관문이었던 해수부의 공유수면 매립목적 변경 심의를 통과함에 따라 영덕군은 실시계획인가 등의 남은 절차에 속도를 높여 내년 상반기 안에는 착공에 들어갈 계획이다.
