브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= KCC글라스가 환경부, 한국환경산업기술원 등과 업무협약을 맺고 사회취약계층을 위한 환경성질환 예방사업에 나선다.
환경성질환 예방사업은 사회적 취약계층의 건강 보호를 위해 2009년부터 시행된 환경복지 서비스다. 참여 기업의 전문성과 자원을 활용해 환경 유해인자로부터 안전한 취약계층 거주 공간을 조성하는 것을 목표로 한다.
올해 사업을 위해 지난 15일 서울시 은평구 한국환경산업기술원에서는 유제철 환경부 차관과 최흥진 한국환경산업기술원장을 비롯한 16개 후원 기업의 주요 인사들이 참석한 가운데 ‘2023년 취약계층 실내환경 개선 업무협약식’이 열렸다.
이번 협약을 통해 올해 저소득가구, 결손가구, 장애인가구, 독거노인가구 등 취약계층 1750여 가구를 대상으로 실내 공기질 진단을 진행하는 한편, 환경이 열악한 500가구를 선정해 실내 환경 개선도 지원할 계획이다.
KCC글라스는 ‘홈씨씨 인테리어’의 친환경 바닥재인 ‘숲’을 기부하는 방식으로 이번 사업에 동참한다. 환경부 공인 환경마크(환경표지인증)와 한국공기청정협회의 친환경 건축자재 단체표준인증(HB마크) 등 각종 친환경 인증을 취득하면서 제품 안전성도 인정받았다.
KCC글라스 관계자는 “열악한 환경에서 생활하는 취약계층에게 안전한 공간을 제공하는데 보탬이 되고자 뜻깊은 사업에 동참하게 됐다”며 “앞으로도 기업의 사회적 책임을 다하고 더불어 사는 행복한 사회를 만들기 위해 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 이날 업무협약식에서는 KCC글라스에 대한 환경부 장관 표창 시상도 함께 이뤄졌다. 취약계층을 위한 실내 환경 개선에 앞장선 공로와 친환경 제품 보급에 기여한 점 등을 높이 평가받아 독고진 KCC글라스 경영지원 담당 상무가 회사를 대표해 환경부 장관 표창을 받았다.
