브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 강원도 고성 제진검문소를 오토바이를 타고 무단 통과하려던 민간인에게 초병이 공포탄을 발사하는 사건이 발생했다.
26일 군 당국에 따르면 지난 25일 강원도 고성 민간인통제선 한 초소를 오토바이 2대에 나눠 탄 민간인 3명이 무단 침입하려는 시도가 있었다.
이들은 "통일전망대에 가려한다"며 길을 열어줄 것을 요청했지만 당시 초병은 규정상 오토바이 출입은 제한된다는 점과 검문소 통과를 위해서는 비무장지대(DMZ) 출입사무소에 사전 신청해야 한다고 고지했다.
하지만 이들은 이런 설명에도 불구하고 계속해서 출입하겠다는 의지를 굽히지 않자, 초병은 메뉴얼에 따라 이들을 제지하고 신병을 확보했다.
특히 초병은 민간인들이 위해를 가하려 하자, 공포탄 2발을 바닥으로 발사하며 제지시키기도 했다.
이와 관련 이성준 합동참모본부 공보실장은 이날 국방부 정례브리핑에서 "정중하게 출입 불가를 안내했는데도 계속 들어가려고 해서 정당하게 제지하고 지침대로 대응한 사건"이라며 "현재 군 수사기관에서 (초병 위협 행위에 대해) 조사 중이다. 결과에 따라서 필요한 조치를 취하겠다. (공포탄을 발사한 초병의 경우에는) 포상 휴가도 검토 중이다"고 밝혔다.
