브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 새마을금고가 창립 60주년을 맞아 폭 넓은 국제교류활동을 펼치고 있다.
먼저, 새마을음고는 한국 금융협동조합을 대표해 지난 8일~9일 네덜란드 위트레흐트의 라보뱅크 본부에서 개최된 유럽협동조합은행협회(EACB) 총회에 참석했다.
새마을금고는 유럽 협동조합은행과의 상호 협력 방안을 논의하는 한편, 라보뱅크와 국제교류 활성화 방안을 위한 협력체계를 구축했다.
유럽협동조합은행협회(EACB)는 협동조합은행 공동의 이익 대변과 글로벌 협동조합운동을 주도하기 위한 목적으로 1970년에 설립된 기구다. 유럽 내 23개 회원기관과 캐나다 데자르뎅, 일본 농림중앙금고 및 한국에서는 새마을금고중앙회가 유일하게 활동 중이다
1898년 설립된 라보뱅크는 120년의 역사를 보유한 네덜란드 대표 금융협동조합으로 2022년말 총 자산 기준 유럽 내 19위의 금융기관이다.
새마을금고와 네덜란드 라보뱅크는 회원들과 협력을 통해 사회문제를 해결하는 지역 이니셔티브를 주도하고 있으며, 향후 ESG 활동과 관련한 상호협력을 강화할 계획이다.
아울러 새마을금고는 지난 5월 24일 서울 강남구 삼성동에서 ‘창립 60주년 기념 국제 컨퍼런스’를 개최했다.
13개국 48명의 해외 초청인사와 국내 귀빈이 참석한 행사는 4개 세션을 통해 새마을금고의 비전과 가치를 널리 알렸다.
새마을금고는 컨퍼런스를 통해 △새마을금고 해외 전파 성공사례 △체계적인 새마을금고 육성을 위한 ‘세계 새마을금고중앙회 창설 필요성’ △UN ESCAP의 협업을 통한 금융사각 지대의 디지털 소외 해소 △유럽 선진 금융협동조합들의 성공 경험을 통한 새마을금고의 발전 방향 제시 등 새마을금고 백년미래를 위한 다양한 방향성을 모색했다.
박차훈 새마을금고중앙회장은 국제 컨퍼런스 기념사에서 “새마을금고가 추구하는 상생에 글로벌을 더해 지속가능한 성장을 하는 새마을금고를 만들겠다”며 “전 세계 금융소외지역에 지속가능한 새마을금고 금융포용 모델을 전수해 나갈 것이다”고 말했다.
