[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 대한민국 대표 연극축제인 제23회 밀양공연예술축제가 오는 21일부터 29일까지 9일간 밀양아리나에서 개최된다.
경상남도와 밀양시가 주최하고 밀양문화관광재단과 밀양공연예술축제추진위원회가 주관하는 이번 축제는 올해 23회를 맞이하며 ‘연극 상상 그 이상의 상상’이라는 주제로 57팀이 펼치는 총 88회 공연과 행사로 준비되고 있다.
개막작은 극단 수의 연출가 구태환의 작품으로 유명 배우 손병호가 출연하는 ‘넓은 하늘의 무지개를 보면 내 마음은 춤춘다’이다.
2020년 서울연극제 대상 수상작이며 21일 오후 7시 30분 성벽극장에서 만나볼 수 있다.
폐막작은 29일 오후 7시 30분 성벽극장에서 밀양출신 지휘자 방성호가 이끄는 국내 최정상 웨스턴심포니 오케스트라의 ‘한 여름밤의 어울림 콘서트’다.
새롭게 시도되는 뮤지컬 갈라쇼 형식으로 진행되며 아름다운 선율과 음악이 한여름 밤을 수놓을 것으로 기대된다.
올해 성벽대작을 살펴보면 ‘넓은 하늘의 무지개를 보면 내 마음은 춤춘다’를 시작으로 젊은 패기를 느낄 수 있는 대경대의 ‘The king 그대는 젊은 영웅’, 김성노 연출의 사명대사와 도쿠가와 이에야스 이야기를 다룬 ‘두 영웅’, 그리고 시대의 걸작이자 강렬한 무대를 선보일 ‘에쿠우스’가 이어진다.
대학로 추천 연극들로 구성된 대학로 열전은 국민연극으로 불리는 ‘라이어’를 비롯해 로맨틱 뮤지컬 ‘사랑을 이루어 드립니다’, 한밤의 무더위를 날려줄 공포연극 ‘두 여자’, 현실성 있는 연애 이야기를 다룬 ‘7시에 만나’, 웰메이드 밴드 라이브 뮤지컬 ‘싱어 러브라이터’, 힐링 코미디 연극 ‘수상한 집주인’, 작정하고 웃길 퓨전사극 코미디 ‘어쩌다 보니’를 천막극장에서 만나볼 수 있다.
추천 작품전에는 서툰 사람들의 서툰 사랑 이야기 ‘서툰 로맨스’, 연극계의 스테디셀러인 ‘소라별이야기’, 독립운동가 배신의 기록 ‘밀정리스트’, 제41회 경상남도연극제 대상 수상작이며 가족의 의미를 되새길 수 있는 ‘난파, 가족’, 제10회 대한민국 신진연출가전 선정작으로 미래 사회의 불안 의식을 잘 표현한 작품인 ‘주드’, 제13회 서울미래연극제 선정작인 ‘일단 SF: 우주를 여행하는 라이카가 남긴 마지막 메시지’로 다양한 장르의 색다른 연극을 준비돼 있다.
밀양의 이야기를 담은 ‘별을 사랑하는 이유’, ‘모노뮤지컬 은주씨’와 밀양독립운동사의 기억을 담은 뮤지컬 ‘독립군 아리랑’이 꿈꾸는 극장과 스튜디오1 극장에서 펼쳐진다.
어린이와 가족 모두를 위한 ‘망치와 덩치, 아기돼지 삼형제’와 환경음악극 ‘안녕펭구’ 등 인형극 무대도 마련돼 있다.
