브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 효성중공업이 경상남도를 차세대 원전 글로벌 제조거점으로 육성하는 프로젝트에 함께한다.
효성중공업은 4일 오전 경상남도 도정회의실에서 경상남도와 한국원자력연구원, 한국원자력산업협회 외 4개 기업이 함께하는 ‘차세대 원전 글로벌 제조 거점 육성을 위한 상호 업무협약’을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 전 세계적으로 관심이 높아지는 차세대 원전 분야를 육상 및 선박, 해양플랜트 등에 적용하기 위해 맺어졌다. 이번 MOU를 통해 향후 차세대 원전 기자재 기술 개발 및 실증, 공동연구 등을 함께 하게 된다.
특히, 소형모듈원자로(SMR)는 최근 탄소중립 목표 달성과 안정적인 에너지 확보가 가능해 차세대 에너지원으로 주목받고 있다. 또한, 재생에너지와 함께 사용하면 전력 수급 안정성을 높일 수 있어 효성중공업의 신재생에너지 기술과의 시너지가 기대된다.
효성중공업 안성훈 부사장은 “효성중공업은 1982년에 국내 최초로 고리원자력 발전소에 345kV 초고압 발전기를 납품하는 등 우리나라 원자력 산업과 함께해 왔다”며 “이번 MOU를 계기로 경상남도와 함께 차세대 소형모듈원전의 기술혁신을 이룰 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 전했다.
