코리아포럼은 7월4일자 보도자료에서 “원코리아포럼이 한미동맹 70주년을 맞아 오는 7월 7일 오전 9시 30분 '한미동맹 70주년 그리고 미래: 동맹의 북핵(北核) 대응과 자유통일 전략'이라는 주제로 국회의원회관 제3 세미나실에서 개최한다. 포럼은 이명수 국회의원실과 국내 최대 시민주도 통일연대운동 단체인 통일을 실천하는 사람들이 공동으로 주최한다”고 전하고 “이 포럼은 대북정책이 비핵화와 북한주민 인권문제로 방향성이 확립된 직후 개최된다는 점에서 의미가 크다. 포럼은 개회식과 발제 및 토론으로 진행된다. 개회식은 이명수 국회의원, 서인택 통일을 실천하는 사람들 공동 상임의장의 인사말, 김진표 국회의장, 김태호 국회 외교통일위원회 위원장의 축사로 진행된다. 김충환 통일을 실천하는 사람들 공동 상임의장이 좌장을 맡아 진행하는 발제 및 토론에서는 신각수 전 주일대사, 안호영 전 주미대사가 발제하고 백승주 전쟁기념사업회 회장, 한용섭 국제안보교류협회 회장, 신진 충남대학교 교수, 정경영 한양대학교 교수가 토론에 참여한다”고 알렸다.
