바야흐로, 정치의 계절이 시작된 모양이다. 2024년 4월10일 총선에 출마를 꿈꾸는 정치 지망생들의 꿈틀거림이 표면화되기 시작했다. 정치 인재들이 전국 각지에서 흐물흐물 기어 나온다. 정치활동을 위해 쓰고자 하는 사무실을 얻는 이들이 눈에 뜨인다. 검찰청 또는 법원 주변에서 공무원으로 살아왔던 법조인, 또는 그런 기관 출신들도 나름대로 적을 무찌르기 위한 정치공작을 벌써부터 시작한 모양이다. '윤석열 정부=검찰 공화국'이라는 말이 실감날 정도이다.
이런 시기에 '정치 전문가(專門家)'가 무언지를 가늠해본다. 대한민국이 세계에 내로라하는 경제 대국이 되어가면서, 경제 분야 전문가들의 눈부신 활약이 있었기에 가능했다는 말을 수긍한다. 특히 대한민국을 부자 국가로 만드는데 기여한 집단은 경제 집단이랄 수 있다. 이들이 질이 좋은 우수한 상품을 생산하는데 기여했고, 이런 상품들을 세계 속에 팔아왔다.
그런데. 지난 대통령 선거에서 정치 분야에 대 이변(異變)이 일어났다. 정치 전문가가 아닌, 검찰 공무원 출신이 대통령이 됐기 때문이다. 윤석열 전 검찰 총장의 대통령 당선은 극적(劇的)인 정치 변화의 하나였다. 우리나라에는 국회든 지자체든, 모두를 합산해서, 평생 동안 정치를 해온 이들이 수 만명에 달한다. 그런데도 정치 전문가 출신이 아닌, 검찰 공무원 출신이 대권(大權)을 꿰어 찼다. 이는 여당인 국민의힘이 원(源)한 선택이었고, 유권자가 편승(便乘)했다.
