울진군, 중부권 동서횡단철도 건설 협력체 회의 개최

【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=울진군(군수 손병복)은 지난 6일 후포마리나항 클럽하우스에서 13개 시군 단체장들과 중부권 동서횡단철도 건설사업 제8회 시장·군수 협력체 회의를 개최했다고 7일 밝혔다.

중부권 동서횡단철도는 서산시~당진시~예산군~아산시~천안시~청주시~증평군~괴산군~문경시~예천군~영주시~울진군의 3개 도, 13개 시군을 연결하는 330km의 노선으로, 3조 7천여 억원의 사업비가 소요된다.

이 노선의 철도 건설사업 준공 시 서쪽 끝인 서산시에서 동쪽 끝인 울진군까지 2시간 20분대에 오고 갈 수 있게 되어 중부권 교통 접근성 개선과 서해안 신 산업벨트와 동해안 관광 벨트 연결로 국토 균형발전을 촉진할 수 있게 된다.

손병복 울진군수는“중부권 동서횡단철도 건설사업은 단순한 철도망 건설이 아닌 중부권 지역의 교통 연계성 강화와 균형 있는 지역 경제 발전을 위해 반드시 이뤄져야 할 사업이다”며“13개 시군과 결의를 다지고 협력해 사업이 조기에 추진될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.
