판화가인 전후연 작가는 최근 보도자료에서 “뉴욕 전시와 대구 아트페어에 이어 파리에서의 첫 전시가 7월11일부터 26일까지 Galerie 89에서 열린다”고 알렸다.
1951년 생인 전 작가는 홍익대학교 미술대학 진학후 4년 동안 많은 공모전에 출품, 다수 수상했다. 전후연 작가는 삼성의 VIP 판화 캘린더를 25년이상 제작했다. 개인이 판화용지를 사용한 세계최고의 작가로 알려져 있다. 홍대에서 디자인을 전공하고 졸업 후 연미술을 이끌며 전업작가의 길을 걷기 시작했다.
처음부터 '소녀'를 작품의 소재로 삼고 있고, 지금까지 사랑, 꿈, 젊음에 대한 그림일기를 작품으로 승화시키고 있다. 이번 전시에는 36점의 판화작품을 보여준다. 특히 이번 전시에는 앤디 워홀처럼 컬러를 달리한 시리즈 8점도 선 보인다.

전후연 작가의 작품에는 무엇보다 소녀에 대한 무한한 사랑의 상상력이 꽃송이에 마음을 실어주는 가열찬 행복을 추구하는 몸짓이 스며 있다. 태양, 새, 달 ,별 , 큐피드의 화살, 우리의 인생처럼 예술에서도 사랑이 바탕이 되면 모든 것이 가능하다는 것을 작가는 사랑이란 언어와 색채로 확인해주고 있다.
전후연 작가의 작품에는 끊임없이 꽃보다 아름다운 여자가 등장한다. 지치지 않는 사랑의 선율이 흘러 화면을 지배하고 있고 그 이웃에는 달도 있고, 별도 있고, 구름도 있다.
