브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 오리온그룹은 제주지역 상생과 발전을 위해 제주도 내 기관 및 단체에 3억 원 상당의 기금과 제품을 전달했다고 21일 밝혔다. 다음달에는 용암해수산업 활성화 기금 2억 원도 추가 지원할 예정이다.
오리온 그룹은 지난 20일 제주특별자치도사회복지협의회에서 운영하는 푸드뱅크를 통해 닥터유 제주용암수, 초코파이情, 참붕어빵 등 1억 원 상당의 오리온 제품을 기탁해 도내 사회복지시설 및 취약계층 가정에 전달했다.
또한, 제주사회복지공동모금회를 통해 오리온 제주용암수 공장이 위치한 제주시 구좌읍 지역에 5000만 원을 기탁했으며, 아동·노인 복지 및 이주여성 지원 등 지역주민을 위해 사용할 예정이다.
제주대학교, 제주한라대학교, 제주관광대학교에는 산학협력 연계 교육과정인 ‘캡스톤 디자인’을 통해 인재육성 장학금을 지원하고, 사단법인 제주학회와 한국예술문화단체총연합회, 제주해녀문화보존회에도 학술·문화예술 진흥 기금을 전달했다.
오리온은 2020년 제주특별자치도와 지역경제 발전과 용암해수산업단지 활성화를 위한 상생 협약을 체결하고, 매년 사회공헌 활동을 지속해오고 있다.
제주의 청정 수자원인 미네랄이 풍부한 용암해수를 원수로 사용해 만든 ‘닥터유 제주용암수’와 건강기능식품 ‘닥터유 면역수’를 판매하고 있으며, 최근에는 온라인 ‘닥터유몰’을 오픈해 제주용암수와 면역수 외에도 바, 드링크, 파우더 등 닥터유 제품을 손쉽게 구매하면서 차별화된 멤버십 혜택까지 받아볼 수 있도록 했다.
오리온 관계자는 “제주의 문화와 역사적 가치를 높이고 지역사회에 기여할 수 있는 다양한 상생 활동을 지속하는 한편, 천혜의 수자원인 제주 용암해수의 우수성을 국내외에 널리 알리는 데에도 적극 앞장설 것이다”고 말했다.
