영덕군은 남호, 하저, 오보, 경정, 덕천, 영리해수욕장에 길이 300m, 높이 3.5m 상어퇴치 대형 그물망을 27일 설치 완료했다.
상어퇴치 대형 그물망은 부유물 유입과 해파리 쏘임 피해도 막을 수 있어 피서객들이 안전하게 해수욕을 할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 고래불, 장사, 대진해수욕장은 기존 설치된 해파리차단망으로 상어 차단이 가능하다.
여름을 즐기러 온 피서객들의 안전을 위하여 영덕군은 강한 전류에 놀라 상어가 도망가도록 제작된 특수장비인 상어퇴치기를 이미 설치하였으며 완벽봉쇄를 위하여 이번에 차단망까지 추가로 설치했다.
또 혹시 모를 상어 출현을 막기 위하여 각 해수욕장마다 상어피해 예방 안전수칙 및 행동요령 안내판을 설치하여 피서객들과 어민들에게 상어에 대한 경각심을 불러일으키고 있다.
